Kats to take part in 2025 Frisco Classic

FRISCO – The first part of the 2025 Sam Houston baseball schedule was unveiled on Wednesday when Peak Events LLC announced the Bearkats as one of four teams who will take part in the ninth annual Frisco College Baseball Classic.Â
The Frisco Classic will take place Feb. 28 through March 2 at Riders Field in Frisco, home of the Frisco Rough Riders, the AA affiliate of the reigning World Series champion Texas Rangers. Â
Joining the Kats will be LSU, Nebraska and Kansas State. The round-robin weekend will feature two games per day. Tickets can be purchased on a day-by-day basis, which includes both games played on the same day or as a weekend package in select seating sections which include all six games. Â
Both reserved and general admission seating options are available and both tickets and tournament information can be found at FriscoClassic.com. Fans can also purchase tickets directly from the Sam Houston Ticket Office by visiting GoBearkats.com/tickets or by calling 972-334-1901.Â
All games of the Frisco Classic will be broadcast live on D1Baseball.com with more information on how to watch and official game matchups to be announced at a later date.Â
All the Kats' opponents for the weekend qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2024 with Kansas State winning the Fayetteville Regional to advance to the Charlottesville Super Regional. Nebraska claimed both the regular season and tournament titles in the Big 10 while LSU followed up its 2023 national championship season with a strong finish to 2024 by advancing to the championship games of both the SEC Tournament and Chapel Hill Regional.Â
The Kats will be making their second appearance in the Frisco Classic and third in a Peak Events tournament. Sam Houston took part in the 2019 Frisco Classic, a weather-altered event which saw the Kats fall to Mississippi State before walking off Nebraska in a frozen thriller. The final game of that weekend, which was scheduled to be against Texas Tech, was cancelled due to severe weather.Â
Most recently the Kats took part in the 2023 Karbach Classic at Dell Diamond in Round Rock. There the Kats knocked off Iowa and Kansas State before dropping its weekend finale to LSU.Â
