HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston begins its quest for a Conference USA championship when league play gets underway with NM State coming to Pritchett Field on Thursday.
Fans are encouraged to come participate in Pack Pritchett as the soccer program tries to set a new attendance record. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling the Ticket Office at (936) 294-1729.
The Bearkats (3-3-2) snapped a two-match losing skid with a 1-0 home victory over Southern on Sept. 13 in the final non-conference game of the season. Indigo Sims has provided a spark since returning from injury and scored the game winner.
Landri Townsend and Gabrielle Williams are tied for the team lead with three goals each for Sam Houston. Townsend moved into seventh place on the all-time scoring list with 16 career goals scored.
The Aggies (5-3-1) are one of the preseason favorites in CUSA. NM State has an impressive resume coming into the match with a 2-2 tie against No. 23 USC and a 2-1 victory over Oregon and 1-0 win against Gonzaga.
The Bearkats' signature win was a 3-1 victory over Houston. It was the first time in program history Sam Houston beat the Cougars and the team's first win against a Power 5 school.
Thursday's match is set to kick off at 6:30 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
