HUNTSVILLE — The Sam Houston Volleyball team wrap up non-conference play at home this weekend, when they host Lamar and Texas Southern in the 2024 Bearkat Classic at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
Sam Houston is currently 4-5 on the young season, having gone 3-3 over the last two weekends on the road. Most recently McKenzie Morvant earned a spot on the all-tournament team at the UTSA Roadrunner Classic, where the Kats went 1-2.
Hannah Baker is also playing well entering this weekend's action after being named the CUSA Defensive Player of the Week. She had at least 21 digs in all three matches, including 23 vs UTSA in the weekend finale, pushing her over 2,000 career digs.
The Bearkats hold a 53-26 record against Lamar, a former league rival in the Southland Conference and the WAC. The last meeting against LU resulted in a 3-0 Bearkat sweep on Oct. 30, 2021, in a WAC matchup. The Kats are 10-0 all-time against TSU, with their most recent sweep on Aug. 25, 2018.
Friday's match against Lamar will be broadcast on ESPN+, with Collin Neil on the call. Saturday's match against TSU can be followed via Statbroadcast.
