Kats aim to snap skid on road

The Sam Houston soccer team will try to get back to its early season success when the Bearkats hit the road for a pair of matches this week beginning in head to Monroe, Louisiana on Thursday.

The Kats will face ULM at 6 p.m. to get the weekend started. This will be a rematch of last season's meeting at Brown Field when the Warhawks came away with a 3-1 victory.

Sam Houston will also travel to Houston to play Rice at Holloway Field on Sunday at 7 p.m. These two teams fought to a 2-2 draw last season.

Sam Houston began the year 2-0-1with wins over Houston and Houston Christian and a tie against rival Stephen F. Austin but have gone 0-2-1 since. The latter stretch includes losses to Lamar and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and a draw with UIW at home.

Senior Landri Townsend and freshman Gabrielle Williams lead the Bearkats with three goals scored on the season. Williams scored the only goal in a 2-1 loss to the Cardinals on Sept. 1 in Beaumont.
