TULSA, Okla. — The Sam Houston volleyball team closed out the Oral Roberts Tournament with a win over Bethune-Cookman on Saturday. 

The victory ensured the Bearkats (3-3) a winning record at the event. Sam Houston knocked off Oral Roberts on Friday and lost to Tulsa.   

The Bearkats went 3-1 against the Wildcats, earning the victory 25-16, 25-27, 25-21, 25-22.
  
Alyssa Fielder led the team with 18 kills, and Mackenzie Morvant had 14 and four blocks. Avery Fowler led the team with 42 assists.   

The Bearkats took the reins early taking set one 25-16. Bethune-Cookman came back and forced extra points in the second set 25-27. 

The third set was also close until Sam Houston began to pull away. A kill by Fielder put the Kats up 23-20 then finished it off with back-to-back points by Fielder and Michaela Panekova. 

Bethune-Cookman was able to move into a 21-21 tie in the final set only to see Sam Houston quickly squash any attempt to extend the match. The Kats won four of the next five points to seal the victory.

Fowler and Panekova were both named to the all-tournament team for their performances. 

Sam Houston will head to San Antonio to take part in the Roadrunner Classic Sept. 13-14.
