LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The Sam Houston Bearkats dropped a 3-1 decision to NM State on Friday night in the first of two matches of the weekend at the Pan American Center. 

The Kats (8-8, 0-3 CUSA) dropped the first two sets before rallying to take the third (25-23), finishing it on kill from Lillian Hamilton sent them into the fourth set. However, the home team regrouped to close it out 25-12. 

Lauren Malone led the Kats with 11 kills and Chelsea Butler added eight. Additionally, Butler had three blocks and Shaelin White anchored the defense on the back row with 15 digs. Avery Fowler led the team with 22 assists.  

The Bearkats play once again against the Aggies on October 4th at 1:00 PM on ESPN+.
