SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Sam Houston women's tennis team will close out its 2025 fall schedule this weekend as the Bearkats participate in the States Up Slam hosted by Texas State on Saturday and Sunday at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
The event will feature five teams in the two-day tournament with the Bearkats up against UT Arlington, St. Mary's (TX), UTSA and host Texas State.
Matches will start at 9 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday will consist of one round of doubles and two rounds of singles, while Sunday will feature two rounds of doubles and one round of singles. The tournament will follow a format of round-robin draws for both singles and doubles.
Ella Fitcher,
Isabella Garza,
Christine Jevicky,
Anamaria Kurtsikashvili, and
Sara Sadadinovic each will compete in one of the singles flights.
Nayuma Subba and
Jacqueline Schnabel will be sidelined this weekend.
"We are really happy will how well the ladies have performed this fall," Bearkat head coach
Rob Hubbard said. "Everyone has been working hard and have shown much improvement in both singles and doubles."
Sam Houston's first four fall events included the Rice Invitational in Houston, the ACU Invitational in Abilene, the ITA Regionals hosted by TCU in Fort Worth and the Bearkat Invitational hosted by Sam Houston October 17-19.
The Kats' 2026 dual-match schedule will begin in January. The team's spring calendar will feature matches against several ranked opponents and another challenging Conference USA schedule.
"The players have worked hard on their conditioning this fall have displayed better and better play each week," Hubbard said. "We look forward to ending the fall on a high note."
