Kats in mix at Colonial Lanes Classic

HARAHAN, La. — Day one results are in the book for Sam Houston at the Colonial Lanes Classic hosted by Tulane on Friday.

The Bearkats are in eighth place with some room to improve on the lanes.

"Today was a super slow start for us and we need to get better at diverting from the game
plan mentally quicker, 'if' that's what the lane is giving us in the moment we've always
discussed it and now we need to execute it 'if' we have to," head coach Brad Hagen said.

The Kats went 4-1 and had a total of 4,992 pins which has them in contention. Vanderbilt is first with 5,193 pins followed by Kansas State (5,184), Louisiana Tech (5,166), Wichita State (5,084), North Carolina A&T (5,012), Nebraska (5,003) and Jackson State (5,002).

"Saturday's another opportunity for us to step up and right now quality shots, execution,
and staying disciplined is key. There are numbers to be had and we need to go get them. Saturday will all be about momentum, and we need to find a way to get it and hold onto it," Hagen said.

Day two gets underway at Colonial Lanes on Saturday morning as teams jockey for position in the championship bracket on Sunday.
