SAN MARCOS, Texas – Sam Houston women's tennis closed the 2025 fall schedule with top performances at the States Up Slam hosted by Texas State last Saturday and Sunday at the Bobcat Tennis Complex. 
 
The event featured five teams with the Bearkats up against opponents from UT Arlington, St. Mary's (TX), UTSA and Texas State. 

Senior Aaliyah Hohmann from Seariouis, Germany and freshman Anamaria Kurtsikashvili from Tbisili, Georgia, highlighted play for the Kats. The pair were undefeated in the number one doubles flight with victories over pairs from UTA, UTSA and Texas State. Sara Sadadinovic from Tuzia, Bosnia and Ella Fitcher from Melbourne, Australia posted another Bearkat doubles win in the doubles second flight. 

In singles competition Sam Houston players produced multiple victories. 

Kurtsikashvili defeated Alessia Terizzi from St. Mary's in the number one flight. Senior Christine Jevicky from Littleton, Colo. posted victories in the second flight over Stoney Cooks of Texas State and Guilana Giadina from UTSA. 

Sadadinovic won versus Emily Niers from Texas State in flight four play. Sophomore Ella Fitcher from Melbourne, Australia defeated Ayra Salim of UTSA. Hohmann produced a win versus Julia Richardet of Texas State. Sophomore Isabella Garza defeated Julia Richardet from Texas State in a 10-point tiebreaker after splitting sets. 

"This tournament was a great way to cap off our fall schedule," Bearkat head coach Rob Hubbard said. "We are happy with how the ladies have performed this fall. Everyone has been working hard. They have shown improvement in both singles and doubles." 
 
The Kats' 2026 dual-match schedule will begin in January. The team's spring calendar will feature matches against nationally ranked non-conference opponents and another challenging Conference USA schedule.
