LOCKPORT, Ill. — Sam Houston picked up another win on the final day of the Lewis Flyer Classic on Sunday at the Strike N' Spare II.
The Bearkats went 9-4 for the tournament to finish eighth after the bracket portion of the competition. Sam Houston knocked off Maryville to begin the day 4-2 before falling to Vanderbilt and Oklahoma Christian.
Jax State won the event followed by North Carolina A&T, Nebraska, Witchita State, Youngstown State, Vanderbilt and Oklahoma Christian.
Katie Paris was named to all-tournament team after finishing fourth in the individual standings on Saturday with a 222.20 average and a high game of 248.
"This is our second event in a row where we started out great by getting the first round win on Sunday and then turning around losing the next match due to routine things," head coach Brad Hagen said. "Nine wins is great, but we need to find a way to show up three days in a row especially with how postseason rounds work. We're close, and we're still ascending but we need to get things tightened up as well as get the bench deeper with confidence. If we can get there asap we'll continue to be a threat for a deep run."
