HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston Bearkats will get their first taste of midweek action this year when they travel to Rice on Wednesday for a game at Reckling Park.

Wednesday's game can be seen on ESPN+ with JP Heath on the call from the Bayou City. The game can be followed via live stats or by following @BearkatsBSB on X and Instagram.

The Bearkats are coming off dropping two of three games at home to Missouri State over the weekend. Wednesday's game was originally scheduled to be played Tuesday night, but was shifted due to the spell of difficult weather sweeping through the area.

The Owls will be playing their first game on the mainland after opening 2025 in the Puerto Rico Classic and dropping games to Michigan, Villanova and Virginia.

Right-handed sophomore Noah Kendrick will make his first career start in what will be his second appearance of the young season. He tossed a 1-2-3 ninth inning to close out the Kats' first win of the season on Saturday against Missouri State. He will be opposed by Rice's Tucker Alch, who has already logged 2.0 innings this year.

Hunter Autrey and Brady Christensen will each be looking to follow up on strong opening weekends with Autrey coming off hitting two homers and driving in eight runs vs the Bears. Meanwhile, Christensen delivered five extra-base hits in the series, including four doubles.

ALL-TIME SERIES vs RICE
- The series with the Owls could not be more even as Sam Houston and Rice are tied at 66-66-1 all-time, including a 29-29 deadlock in Huntsville. The Owls hold a 37-35-1 edge in games played on their home turf, having won each of the last three games vs the Kats at Reckling Park.
