SAN ANTONIO — Sam Houston closed the Roadrunner Classic with two wins against Akron and UTSA on Sunday at Roadrunner Field.
The Bearkats (7-6) dominated the circle and stayed hot at the plate. Brodie Quinlan hit a solo home run against Akron, and Abigail Young sealed the second win of the day with a strikeout against UTSA.

The game's lone run came off the bat of Quinlan, who launched a home run over the center-field wall in the bottom of the sixth.
Tiffany Sanchez (2-0) earned the win, going the distance while allowing five hits and striking out seven.

Young (1-1) picked up her first win of the season, tossing a shutout. She limited the Roadrunners to four hits and struck out six, including a called third strike to end the game in the seventh.
Seven Bearkats recorded hits, with Quinlan's double marking the team's only extra-base hit. Sam Houston finished with five runs on 10 hits.
Bella Perez drove in three runs, including a two-run single down the right-field line in the top of the seventh.
The Bearkats also capitalized on UTSA errors and small ball. Chesnee Faile added a sacrifice fly in the seventh.
Sam Houston returns home for its final nonconference game before league play, hosting Lamar on Tuesday. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
