Kats land 2 on All-CUSA teams

DALLAS — Sam Houston had two players selected to the 2024-25 All-Conference USA men's basketball teams, the league office announced on Monday.
Senior Lamar Wilkerson was voted to the first team and senior Cameron Huefner was named honorable mention. The Bearkats are set to compete in the Conference USA Championships in Huntsville, Alabama on Tuesday.
Wilkerson has left his footprint on the Bearkat program since his first game when he hit the game-winning 3 in a road upset at Oklahoma. The two-time, first-team All-Conference USA guard led Sam Houston to the CUSA regular season championship a year ago, and he set the single season school record for most made 3-pointers with 106 so far this season while shooting 45.6 from behind the arc.Â
The Ashdown, Arkansas star is averaging 20.4 points per game, second in CUSA, and is currently ranked third in the nation with 34 consecutive double-digit scoring games dating back to last season. Wilkerson scored a career-high 32 points in his final home game, a 76-69 victory over NM State, and his 1,299 career points is good enough for 11th all-time in program history.
Huefner has stayed healthy this season and it has shown as he is averaging a career-high 14 points per game. The two-time honorable mention All-CUSA forward is shooting a career best 39 percent from 3 and is second on the team with 56 baskets from behind the arc. He has scored 923 career points in three seasons as a Bearkat.
