Ogayemi and Kone earn All-Conference honors

DALLAS— Sam Houston senior Deborah Ogayemi and Junior Fanta Kone were named to all-conference teams on Monday.

Ogayemi has been a standout performer for the Bearkats, leading the team in scoring with 12.5 points per game in conference play. She has recorded 17 double-digit scoring performances this season and ranks among the conference's top five in multiple statistical categories, sitting fifth in both steals per game (2.39) and rebounds (7.3).

Her dominance earned her the program's first Player of the Week honor in four years following a stellar performance against Jacksonville State and Kennesaw State.

She reached a career-high of 19 points two times this season to help the Kats gain their first road win and sweep in CUSA play. Ogayemi reordered her sixth double-double this last weekend against New Mexico State.

Kone was selected for the All-Defensive team and has been a force for the Bearkats this season. Early in the year, she nearly recorded a triple-double in an unconventional way, tallying 14 rebounds, 11 assists, seven points, and five steals in a non-conference matchup against McMurry.

She has consistently led Conference USA in both steals (2.92 per game) and assists (4.8 per game), proving to be a key playmaker on both ends of the floor.

The eighth-seeded Bearkats will face the ninth seeded Gamecocks on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. in the conference tournament.
