CARROLLTON, Texas – The Sam Houston men's golf team is traveling north for the Maridoe Intercollegiate, beginning Monday, March 31 at the Maridoe Golf Club.
The event, hosted by North Texas, will consist of 54 holes with 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday.
This par-71, 7,569-yard tournament has been played since 2018. The course was created to host go-to important golf tournaments including the 2021 USGA Women's Amateur Four-Ball Championships. The 14th ranked best course in the state features lower forested areas and water hazards all throughout.
This is the first time the Bearkats will step foot on the greens at the Maridoe Golf Club. The Kats will face tough competition in the 13-team field with four of them being ranked, including Arizona State (3rd), Oklahoma State (4th), Oklahoma (7th) and Alabama (14th).
Freshman Ethan Dufresne's stellar performance at the All-American Intercollegiate allowed for him to get his chance at team play after taking his first individual title and earned CUSA Golfer of the Week. Alongside Dufrense, Gene Chaikangwal and Bret Gray are looking to stay consistent and help the Bearkats shot low scores.
Live scoring will be via Scoreboard by Clippd with updating scores throughout the round as well as the results at the end of each day.
