Bowling adds another international standout

HUNTSVILLE — Head coach Brad Hagen and the nationally ranked Sam Houston bowling program is pleased to announce the signing of Emily Hart for the 2025-26 season.
Hart, from Salisbury Heights, South Australia, will join the Bearkats as one of the most decorated youth athletes to come out of Australia.
"Emily's success on and off the lanes is exactly what we are looking for each year to add to our talented roster," Hagen said. "She's traveled all over the world competing at a high level with her Youth National Team as well as her Adult National Team. Her success against some of the best in the world and experience is worth noting and will fit in great with the other international athletes on the roster who she'll be joining."
On the lanes, Hart has won silver at the 22nd Asian Junior Championships in Thailand, won two bronze medals at the 23rd Asian Junior Championships in Doubles and in the Masters Division. This past summer, she made the Australian IBF World Youth Team which competed in Korea and most recently in January the IBF Australian World Cup Adult Team in Hong Kong China.
Additionally, Hart has competed at a high level within South Australia as well as placed on the numerous podiums in various tournaments around Australia.
"At the end of the day I am always looking for individuals who are willing to take a risk, join our perennial program, and look at Sam Houston as an opportunity to change their trajectory," Hagen said. "We need individuals on the roster who are ready to show up and get to work without reservation as well as those who are take advantage of an excellent academic opportunity.
"I believe Emily's athletic mindset, resume, and her expectations to excel on and off the lanes will allow her to transition into the collegiate bowling world seamlessly. She's a great addition to a young returning hungry competitive roster."
Hart, a 2024 Salisbury High School graduate with honors, was awarded the Excellent Attitude to Learning and Academic Achievement honor as a graduating senior. She plans on pursuing a degree in the medical sport sciences.
Hart is the 15th different international bowler to join the SHSU bowling program going into its 16th season, the 13th different country to sign with the team and she will be the 19th to have represented their National Team as a Bearkat.
