NORMAN, Okla. – Sam Houston golfers Grace Jin and Amelia Guo positioned themselves well after playing 36 holes on Monday, the first day of the NCAA Norman Regional at OU's Jimmie Austin Golf Course.
Likely weather in the area forced the field to play two rounds of play on Monday with tournament officials to determine Tuesday morning if the final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday, or Wednesday.
The pair, playing as individual medalists each fired scores of 74 (+2) in the opening round. Jin followed with a 71 in the afternoon, while Guo carded a 73.
Those scores have Jin with a 36-hole score of 145 (+1) and in a tie for 21st place overall, while Guo sits two shots back in a tie for 32nd place.
Stanford, Northwestern, Michigan State and Baylor hold the top four spots on the team leaderboard with Tulsa and North Carolina tied for fifth. Oklahoma, the regional host, sits in seventh place, one shot back of joining the tie with the Golden Hurricane and Tar Heels.
The top five teams at the end of the tournament will advance to the NCAA Championship, along with the top-scoring individual medalist on a non-advancing team.
