LAKE CHARLES, La. — Sam Houston has one final nonconference tune-up when the Bearkats hit the road to face another familiar foe in McNeese on Thursday at Cowgirl Field.
Sam Houston is coming off a 1-1 road split with a 1-0 victory over Grand Canyon in Phoenix on Sept. 5 and a 3-1 loss to SMU in Dallas on Sunday.
Ellie Morgan scored both goals for the Bearkats (2-3-1) who hold a 12-9 overall record against the Cowgirls dating back to when both teams where members of the Southland Conference.
McNeese won the last meeting 1-0 in Lake Charles in 2022, but Sam Houston had won the previous three meetings. The Cowgirls are 1-5-2 on the season, including a two-match losing skid to Houston and Tarleton.
Tiana Johnson and Morgan are tied for the team lead in goals scored with two apiece. Keeper
Katie Bahn has 26 saves on the season, including a seven-save effort in the 1-0 shutout of the Lopes last week.
