PHOENIX — Sam Houston is heading back on the road this week for two nonconference matches against two quality opponents.
The Bearkats will face former WAC foe Grand Canyon on Friday at 9 p.m. then return to Texas to face SMU on Sunday at 7. The match with the Lopes will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network while Sunday's contest against the Mustangs will be streamed on the ACC Network.
Sam Houston (1-2-1) is coming off a 3-1 loss to Lamar on Aug. 31.
Gianna Gomez scored her first goal of the season in the setback, but an early 2-0 deficit proved to be the difference.
The Kats and GCU have played one time when both schools were members of the WAC with the Lopes, who are now in the Mountain West, coming away with a 6-0 win at home in 2022. SMU is 7-0 all time against Sam Houston with the last win coming 4-1 in 2017 in Dallas.
