DALLAS — Senior Po'Boigh King did not miss many shots this weekend and Sam Houston reaped the benefits.
King was seeing a rim the size of a beach ball to average 25.0 points per game over the weekend to lead the Bearkats to their fourth straight Conference USA victory. The Roanoke Rapids, N.C. product shot 58 percent from both the field and 3-point range to earn CUSA Co-Player of the Week honors, the league announced Monday.
He had 23 points and four assists as Sam Houston began the week at home with a thrilling 93-87 victory over Kennesaw State on Jan. 21, going 8 for 15 from the field and 3 for 6 from behind the arc. King followed that with 27 points in a dominating 73-58 win against Western Kentucky on Jan. 24 by making 10 of 16 shots, including a 4-for-6 performance from 3 against the Toppers.
For the week, he made 18 of his 31 total shots and was 7 for 12 from 3 to help the Kats win their fourth straight.
