LINCOLN, Neb. — Sam Houston placed eighth at the Big Red Invite hosted by Nebraska on Sunday.
The Bearkats went 7-6 at the tournament and finished with 13,332 total pins. Wichita State was the three seed heading into championship bracket play Sunday and captured first followed by Jax State, Nebraska, Maryville, Vanderbilt, Louisiana Tech and Arkansas State.
"?We're so close to where we need to be but against the top competition there's no room for major brain farts," head coach Brad Hagen said. "We have to continue to understand our individual self awareness and never lose sight that confidence in one's ability is a full time job. Today and this weekend was a great opportunity to see where we may fall at our CUSA championships, but we have to find a way to put ourselves in a position for an at-large and time is almost expired."
Sam Houston had another solid showing this weekend in individual competition with four rollers in the top 20. Miya Greene finished fourth with a 220.60 average, Breana Chewens placed sixth with a 219.40 average, Emily Hart came in 19th with a 202.40 average, and Noey Sarntong finished 20th with an average of 201.80.
