Kats split matches in Abilene

ABILENE – Senior Nayuma Subba won the number one singles matches in both matches to lead the Sam Houston women's tennis team as the Kats split a road doubleheader in Abilene on Saturday.
The Bearkats (3-9) opened the day with a 4-1 loss to Abilene Christian. Subba earned the team's point with a 6-0 6-2 victory over Masha Viralovic in the number one singles contest. She followed up with na 6-1 6-0 win over Cindy Tomlin in the number one spot of a 7-0 team victory over Hardin-Simmons.
The victory marked Sam Houston's third victory in the team's last four matches. The Kats won two other road contests last week over Alcorn State and Southern Mississippi.Â
The Kats have played eight of their last nine contests on the road and face matches away from home versus Rice, Tennessee Southern, and Middle Tennessee before their next home match against Stephen F. Austin on March 19.
