The Bearkat bowlers are in good standing at the TNBA Open following day one of competition on Friday.
Sam Houston went 5-0 and leads the eight-team field with 5,067 total pins. Jackson State is in second followed by Central Missouri, Oklahoma Christian, Tulane, Southern, Alabama State and Grambling.
"Today was a great start to the weekend, and we need to find a way to carry over the good stuff we did today and leave the bad stuff where it was which is in the past," head coach Brad Hagen said. "This weekend's priorities are moving on as quick as possible no matter the scenario. This is a great field to help our scenario out and we need to find a way to take advantage of it all.
"We have enough depth and experience to get it done, now we need to get it done."
The Bearkats picked up wins Friday over Oklahoma Christian 1,000-907, Central Missouri 1,028-947, Grambling 1,064-687, Tulane 1,043-916 and Alabama State 932-863.
