Tennis head to Hill Country for pair of weekend tilts

SAN ANTONIO – The Sam Houston women's tennis team continues its month-and-a-half long series of road matches this weekend, heading to the edge of the Texas Hill Country for non-conference meetings with two familiar rivals.
The Bearkats take on UTSA Friday in an 11 a.m. dual match. Then, on Sunday, the women travel to San Marcos to face Texas State Sunday at 12 noon. Both opponents are former Southland Conference rivals.
The pair of contests mark the team's second weekend on the road. The Kats traveled to Lubbock for meetings with nationally ranked Texas Tech and Oregon last week. The squad's schedule of 10 non-conference matches during February is preparing the team for the beginning of Conference USA action March 12 at WKU.
The Kats will face CUSA opponents at home in Huntsville in March and April as they host Louisiana Tech, Missouri State, NM State and Kennesaw State at the Chuck and Wanda Beckner Tennis Center.
