
Kats open spring portion at Bentwater Intercollegiate

MONTGOMERY –The Sam Houston men's golf team will open the spring portion of the 2025–26 season at the Bentwater Intercollegiate, beginning Monday, Feb. 9, at Bentwater Country Club.
The home tournament will feature 54 holes, with 36 holes scheduled for Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday.
The par-71, 6,788-yard course, the Bentwater Intercollegiate has been held since the 2023–24 season. The course is known for its scenic water hazards, pine straw roughs, and challenging greens. The Bearkats have competed in the event each year, winning the tournament in 2023 and finishing second last season.
The 17-team field includes Baylor, Central Arkansas, East Texas A&M, Houston, HCU, Ohio, Oakland, Prairie View A&M, Rice, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern, Tarleton State, TCU, Texas Southern, UIC, Virginia Commonwealth, and host Sam Houston.
Chattanooga claimed the team title last year, while the Bearkats enter the spring ranked 148th nationally.
Sam Houston finished second at the 2025 Bentwater Intercollegiate, posting a team score of 12-over par. Alex Malanga led the Bearkats with a third-place finish at 1-under, while Ethan Dufresne placed 19th overall at 5-over par.
Live scoring will be available via Scoreboard by Clippd, with updates provided throughout each round and final results posted at the end of each day. Tee times begin at 8 a.m. CT on Monday, with Tuesday's final round paired by score.
