
Kats place eleventh at Betsy Rawls Invitational

AUSTIN – The Sam Houston women's golf team placed 11th at the Betsy Rawls Invitational, held at the University of Texas Golf Club.
The Bearkats posted a final round of 24-over-par to finish the two-day tournament at +96 overall. Sam Houston finished ahead of Chattanooga, HCU, Harvard, Troy, and Incarnate Word, while also coming within two strokes of BYU and three of UTSA.
Isabelle Hurrion paced the Bearkats with a 22nd-place finish after rounds of 85-75-73. After a slow opening round, Hurrion bounced back with five birdies on the front nine in round two and added three more in the final round. Amelia Guo followed closely; finishing tied for 38th at +22 with rounds of 81-78-79. Guo recorded a birdie in each round on day one and added three more in the final round.
Host and No. 7 Texas captured the team title at 14-over-par, while No. 9 Arkansas placed second at +35 and No. 31 Oklahoma finished third at +40.
Francesca Sumcad carded rounds of 80-84-80 to finish at +28 and tie for 54th. She recorded birdies on holes 9 and 11 in the opening round and added another on hole 10 in round two. Pureun Kim finished at +34 with rounds of 83-82-85, tallying six birdies across the tournament. Bomyeong Lee rounded out the lineup with rounds of 96-90-80 to finish at +50.
The Bearkats will have a quick turnaround as they travel to Tallahassee for the Florida State Match-Up, set to begin Friday, March 20, at Seminole Legacy Golf Club.
