Kats finish ninth at Florida State Match Up

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Sam Houston women's golf team finished ninth at the Florida State Match Up, hosted by Florida State at Seminole Legacy Golf Club.
The Bearkats posted a final round of 16-over-par to finish the three-day tournament at +44 overall. Sam Houston finished ahead of Mercer, Murray State, and Troy, while coming within four strokes of FIU and 15 strokes of North Florida.
Francesca Sumcad led the Bearkats, tying for 19th at 7-over-par with rounds of 73-78-72. She recorded four birdies in both the first and final rounds, adding two birdies and an eagle on hole 14 in the third round. Amelia Guo tied for 22nd at 6-over-par with rounds of 72-74-78, totaling four birdies across the first two rounds and adding another on the fourth hole in the final round.
No. 18 Florida State won the event at 4-under-par, followed by No. 28 Eastern Michigan at 4-over-par and No. 54 Tulsa at 12-over-par.
Isabelle Hurrion placed 47th at 15-over-par with rounds of 73-79-79, recording three birdies on the opening day and one in each of the final two rounds. Pureun Kim tied for 49th with rounds of 82-76-75, tallying three birdies over the final two rounds. Bomyeong Lee posted rounds of 79-79-81, recording two birdies in both the first and final rounds and one in the second.
The Bearkats will return to action at the Mo Morial in Bryan at Traditions Golf Club beginning April 6, their final tournament before the CUSA Championships.
