The Sam Houston bowling squad led from start to finish to capture the title at the TNBA Open on Sunday.
The Bearkats opened the day with a 4-1 victory over Jackson State to begin championship bracket play. Sam Houston then topped Grambling 4-0 before clinching the trophy with a 4-0 sweep of Central Missouri in the finale.
The tournament also marked the 1,300th win in the program's history.
"Today was a big day for us — not just because of the wins, but because of what those wins represented," head coach Brad Hagen said. "We made a commitment. We said we were going to do something no matter the outcome, and we followed through. That matters. The results are exciting, but the true value was in honoring our word.
"Commitment is the ingredient that allows us to finish a wire-to-wire weekend. Our word is our bond and that is something I hold very close to our culture. When we say we're going to do something, we do it. No shortcuts. No excuses. Anything less becomes a hard lesson. Today, it became a powerful statement internally."
The Bearkats went 13-0 during the tournament and finished ahead of Central Missouri, Jackson State, Oklahoma Christian, Tulane, Southern, Alabama State and Grambling.
"We secured our 1,300th career win with an exciting double in the 10th to advance to the championship match," Hagen added. "We extended one of the longest regular-season streaks in NCAA bowling by winning the TNBA Open and keeping our 16-year regular-season tournament win streak alive, winning at least one event every year since our inception.
"To top it off, we went 13–0 on the weekend, placed the top three on the all-tournament team, and had four athletes finish in the top 10. That's special weekend."
Sam Houston also made program history during the individual competition on Saturday. They had three rollers sweep the top three places in the individual competition as Emily Hart, Miya Greene and Breana Chewens placed first, second and third respectively and Jessica Sillis finished 10th.
