HUNTSVILLE — The Sam Houston women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Louisiana Tech on Saturday at the Chuck & Wanda Beckner Tennis Center.

Ella Fitcher picked up the lone point of the day for the Bearkats (7-11), outlasting Louisiana Tech's (12-2) Isabella Walker on the No. 5 court. Fitcher and Walker split the first two sets before Fitcher pulled out a 10-8 win in Set 3 to take the match.

LA Tech had staked itself to a 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point with victories on the Nos. 2 and 3 courts then took five of the six singles matches, including four in straight sets.

Sam Houston has three more matches remaining before taking part in the Conference USA Tournament, which is set for April 15-18 at Middle Tennessee. All three of the Kats' remaining matches will come at home vs CUSA opponents, beginning Friday, March 28 against Missouri State.
