TEXARKANA – The Sam Houston men's golf team heads to compete in the 2026 Conference USA Men's Golf Championships as the reigning champions, with play set to begin Monday, April 27 at Texarkana Country Club.
The championship will be contested in a 54-hole stroke-play format over three days, with one round each day on the par-72, 6,969-yard course. The top teams will advance to semifinal and final match play rounds on Thursday, April 30, which will be streamed on ESPN+.
The Bearkats will face a competitive field that includes Delaware, FIU, Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State, Middle Tennessee, Missouri State, New Mexico State, UTEP and Western Kentucky.
Designed as a classic Southern-style course, Texarkana Country Club features tight, tree-lined fairways, well-placed bunkers and challenging greens that reward precision and course management. Established in 1914, the course blends tradition with a strategic layout, with water hazards and subtle elevation changes adding to its difficulty. The Conference USA Championships have been held at Texarkana Country Club for the past three years.
Sam Houston will be making its third appearance at the CUSA Championships since joining the league in the 2023–24 season. The Bearkats captured the title last season, defeating UTEP in the finals after taking down Kennesaw State in the semifinals.
This year's roster features a completely new lineup for the championship run, with no players from last season's title team competing in the tournament. Caleb Lumpkin, Sebastian May, Jackson Hymer, Grayson Petru and Alex Malanga will look to defend the Bearkats' championship standing with a fresh group taking on the course.
Live scoring will be available via Clippd, with coverage of match play streamed on ESPN+. Sam Houston's opening tee time is set for 8 a.m. on hole 10, with the final Bearkat scheduled to tee off at 8:36 a.m.
