SHSU announces partnership with FCCU

HUNTSVILLE - Sam Houston Athletics and First Community Credit Union (FCCU) have announced a new 10-year partnership designed to support Bearkat Athletics and create opportunities for students and the broader university community.
"One of the most compelling aspects of this partnership is the relationship behind it. First Community Credit Union has deep ties to Sam Houston, with many of its executives and leaders proudly being Bearkat alumni. They understand our mission, believe in our students and are committed to investing in the university's future," University President Alisa White said.
The 10-year partnership tabs FCCU as the "Official Financial Partner" for SHSU and will expand sponsorship support for Bearkat Athletics, while creating new opportunities for financial education, career engagement and community connection across SHSU.
"This partnership brings together two organizations that share a strong commitment to education and community," said TJ Tijerina, president and CEO of First Community and an SHSU alumnus, Class of '03 and '17. "We're honored to partner with Sam Houston State University in supporting its students, faculty, staff, alumni and athletic programs. Together, we are investing in the next generation of leaders and strengthening our communities for years to come. We are proud to be part of the Bearkat legacy and excited about the future we will build together."
As part of the partnership, FCCU anticipates establishing an on-campus presence to provide convenient banking services for students, faculty and staff. In addition, SHSU and FCCU will have opportunities to collaborate on financial literacy initiatives, internship and career development programs and networking opportunities that connect students with financial services professionals.
