
Kats set for Lamar Invitational

BEAUMONT - Sam Houston volleyball returns to tournament play this weekend as the Bearkats travel to Beaumont for the Lamar Invitational this weekend at McDonald Gym.Â
The Bearkats enter the weekend with a 6-4 record and will face ULM, North Dakota and host Lamar throughout the tournament.Â
Chloe Monson leads the Bearkats offensively through the first 10 matches of the season. The outside hitter has recorded 142 kills and .214 hitting percentage on the attack.Â
Bella Wood, Annika Brooks, and Chelsea Butler have also been key contributors for Sam Houston. Wood has recorded 86 kills, while Brooks and Butler both totaled 63 kills apiece. Â
At setter, Brenlin Garlitz leads the Bearkats with 182 assists, followed by Lauren Pyle with 168 assists. Garlitz has also contributed 79 digs this season.Â
Shaelin White leads the Bearkats defensively with 158 digs. At the net, Rachelle Reed has recorded 41 blocks, while Butler has totaled 26 blocks.Â
Sam Houston opens the Lamar Invitational against ULM at 10 a.m. Friday before facing North Dakota at 4 p.m. Friday. The Bearkats close the tournament against host Lamar at 1 p.m. Saturday.Â
All three matches will be played at McDonald Gym in Beaumont. Live stats will be available for the tournament, with the Lamar match streamed on ESPN+.Â
