Kennesaw, Ga. -Â Sam Houston volleyball opens Conference USA play this weekend with a two-match series against Kennesaw State at VyStar Arena.Â
The Bearkats enter league play 9-4 overall and on a three-match winning streak after going 3-0 at the Lamar Invitational. Sam Houston swept Lamar 3-0 in its most recent match, hitting .345 as a team.Â
Sam Houston's setting duo of Brenlin Garlitz and Lauren Pyle enters the weekend after being named CUSA Co-Setters of the Week. The pair combined for 121 assists across the three matches at Lamar, with Garlitz recording 66 assists and Pyle adding 55.Â
Chloe Monson, Bella Wood and Chelsea Butler have led the Bearkats offensively throughout the season. The trio combined for 37 kills in the sweep of Lamar, with Wood recording 13 and Butler and Monson each adding 12.Â
Shaelin White has anchored the Bearkats defensively, while Rachelle Reed has provided a presence at the net. White recorded 13 digs against Lamar, and Reed finished with five blocks, including two solo blocks.Â
Sam Houston and Kennesaw State will meet Friday at 7 p.m. before closing the series Saturday at 2 p.m. Both matches will be played at VyStar Arena and streamed on ESPN+.Â
