Biography

One of two seniors returning from last year’s squad, Paula Cerda looks to play an important role for the Bearkats in the 2023-24 campaign.

2022-23 SAM HOUSTON
Cerda posted an 11-7 record in dual match play as a junior transfer. Four of her singles victories came at number one and seven at number two. For the season, she led the Kats with 16 singles wins in dual match and tournament competition combined. Cerda paired with Megan Basson for five dual match doubles victories, all at number one. During the fall, she earned a berth in the number one singles semi-finals in the Lamar Invitational.

2020-21 2021-22 STEPEHEN F. AUSTIN
As a two-year letter winner for the Lumberjacks, Cerda compiled overall dual match records of 22-15 in singles (10-9 freshman year and 12-6 sophomore) and 26-9 in doubles (15-5 freshman season and 11-4 sophomore). Cerda earned second team All-Southland Conference doubles honors as a freshman and All-Western Athletic Conference recognition as a sophomore.

KLEIN HIGH SCHOOL
Throughout her prep career, Cerda played at the number one and two singles and doubles spots under coach Will Butler. She served as team captain and earned first team All-Region selections and Co-MVP honors. She also lettered in soccer and was a four-time all-academic selection.
