Jake Carlson is entering his second season with the Bearkats in 2025. He joined the program ahead of the 2024 season as the program's recruiting coordinator after spending the 2023 season as the head coach at Howard College.
Carlson brings more than 20 years of collegiate coaching experience to the Bearkat program, with stops at Nicholls, Coffeyville CC, Odessa College, Blinn College, Howard College, Texas A&M, UTSA and ULM. He also served as an associate scout with the Kansas City Royals, Baltimore Orioles and the New York Yankees.
During his junior college coaching career, Carlson has had over 65 players go on to play at the Division 1 level. He has coached 44 players who have been selected in the MLB draft and six All-Americans.
The Manhattan, Kan., native began his collegiate career at Butler County CC where he earned all-conference honors as an outfielder his sophomore season. Carlson completed his final two seasons at Nicholls where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in General Studies.
Carlson is married to the former Jessica Weynand of Brenham, Texas. The couple of a daughter, Callie Rene.
