Heather Self started at Sam Houston State in 2018 after a 17 year career in public education as a teacher and coach.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Lamar University and a master’s degree in Reading Education from Nazareth College in Rochester, NY. As a former division one dual sport athlete at and former teacher, Heather brings both experience and passion for education and athletics to the athletics department.
She serves as senior academic advisor for baseball, softball, volleyball, and tennis as well as an assists in the compliance office.
Heather and husband have six dogs (Sasha, Sophee, Jake, Shadow, Beaux, and Bear) and reside in Huntsville.
