Anthony Fobb enters his fourth season on Chris Mudge’s staff after joining the Bearkats on Coach Mudge’s inaugural staff in 2023.
During the 25-26 season, Fobb helped guide Sam Houston to a 22-12 overall record, a 13-7 finish in CUSA play and a postseason berth in NIT. After being picked to finish ninth in the CUSA preseason poll, the Bearkats exceeded expectations by finishing second in the league. With Fobb assisting with the defense, the Bearkats continue to establish themselves as one of the conference’s premier defensive and rebounding programs.
Recognized as one of the nation’s rising assistant coaches, Fobb was named the 2026 TABC Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) Division 1 Assistant Coach of the Year. His ability to build relationships and identify talent has played a significant role in Sam Houston ‘s continued success on the recruiting trail. With his recruiting ties to Louisiana, Fobb recruited and coached Kashie Natt who was named the 2026 CUSA Defensive Player of the Year from Rayville, Louisiana. Fobb responsibilities continue to include recruiting, player development, and assisting in defensive game planning and rebounding.
