Keaton Henson, a US Soccer Federation “D” license coach and Texas A&M graduate, joins the Sam Houston State University women’s soccer program as a graduate assistant for the 2013 season.
A team manager for the Texas A&M women’s soccer team in 2011 and 2012, Henson will be responsible for working with the Bearkat’s defensive players and putting together opponent scouting reports.
“We are very happy to have Keaton working with us this year. He spent this past spring as a volunteer assistant. That experience allowed him to get to know the players and see how we wanted to do things around here. Keaton is very energetic and does a great job for us with the team,” said head coach Tom Brown.
Henson served two years as a staff coach for both Texans-Aggieland SC and Challenge-Aggieland SC, working specifically with the goalkeepers. He also directed the summer soccer academies.
The Deer Park High School product won a state championship in 2009 and has played with Eclipse Soccer Club, West U Soccer Club, Alliance Soccer Club, Quest Soccer Club, and East Belt Soccer Club.
Lastly, Brown hopes that Henson will be an asset in reaching out to the local community.
