Andy Fryman joins the Bearkat track and field staff to coach the throwing events after an outstanding career as an All-America and All-Region student-athlete for the University of Kentucky.

Competing in the shot put, discus, hammer and weight throw, Fryman earned NCAA Outdoor All-America and All-Mideast Region honors in both the discus and hammer.

He was an NCAA Indoor Championship qualifier after finishing third at the Southeastern Conference indoor meet. In the shot put, Fryman was a USA Outdoor National qualifier and NCAA Outdoor National Championship participant after winning both the SEC and NCAA Mideast Regional titles. He was a USA Indoor National Qualifier in the shot as well, earning All-Mideast Region honors three years in a row.

Fryer received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky as a pre-physical therapy major. He was an outstanding athlete in Maysville, KY, for Mason County High School. As a senior, he set a state record in the discus and won state championships in both the discus and the shot put.
