Bearkats sixth at Louisiana-Monroe

MONROE, LA -- Led by Jennifer Heinz, who finished as runner-up in the individual medalist competition, Sam Houston State's women's golf team placed sixth at the Louisiana-Monroe Fred Marx Invitational played Monday and Tuesday at Bayou Desiard Golf Club.
Heinz finished one stroke behind individual champion Elin Andersson of South Alabama. The Bearkat senior shot a 54-hole score of 77-71-74--222. Andersson won with a 75-74-72--221 total.
Arkansas State won the team title with a score of 917. South Alabama was the runner-up at 922, followed by Central Arkansas, Samford, and Jacksonville State at 928.
Sam Houston State placed sixth with a two-day score of 933. The Bearkats finished ahead of Louisiana-Monroe 938, Wichita State 942, Eastern Kentucky 950, Texas-Pan American 952, McNeese State 961, Nicholls State 963, Troy State 971, Centenary 975, Henderson State 1018, and Houston Baptist 1032.
Landa Stewartm Wendy Joyner, Ani Carrillo of Sam Houston State all tied for 31st with identical 238 totals.
Next action for the Sam Houston State women's golf team will be the Oral Roberts Golden Eagle Invitational
at Meadowbrook Country Club in Tulsa, OK, Oct. 1-2.
