An NCAA regional qualifying mark and school record throw in the hammer by Kendall Bass and a first place in the high jump for Dess Meek highlighted performances for the weekend as Sam Houston State women split to compete in both the Texas-El Paso Spring Invitational and the Rice Bayou Classic.
At the UTEP meet, Meek won the high jump with a mark of five feet, seven inches. Bass was third in the hammer with a throw of 177 feet, 11 inches.
Meek also placed fifth in the long jump (18' 5.75”) and sixth in the triple jump (37' 3”).
Tiffany Singleton was third in the 400 meter dash (55.70). Jessica Fisher fourth in the 100 meter dash (11.73). Fisher placed fourth in the 200 meters (24.20) and Dakota Stewart was fourth in the 400 hurdles (1:04.45).
The Bearkat women placed second in the 4x100 relay (46.47) and 3rd in the 4x400 relay at UTEP.
Allison Ferries produced Sam Houston's top finish at the Rice Bayou Classic with a third place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase (10:55.78).
