Women earn runner-up finish at Elkins Lake

The tournament was stopped after 36 holes due to wet course conditions after three days of rain. Tuesday morning, the final three holes of the second round were completed from Monday and then the event was suspended.
Central Arkansas's winning score of 285-291-576 broke the women's tournament record of 628 set by Sam Houston in 1999.
Sam Houston State finished as the team runner-up, posting a 302-302-604 total. Freshamn Shelby Hardy led the Bearkats with a 6th place finish, shooting 74-74-148.
Rebecca Sorenson of Central Arkansas won the women's individual medalist trophy with a seven-under 69-68-137 total. Her school was a tournament record as well, breaking the mark of 155 set by Janell Howland of Lamar in 1999.
Other Sam Houston State finishes included Kirsten Spittler 8th 77-73-150; Jessica Borth 12th 77-76-153, Meghan Musk 12th 74-79-153 and Landa Stewart 22ng 77-81-158.
Two other Bearkats competed in the event as individuals only. Meghan Stevens and Jenna Stene both tied for 25th place with 161 totals.
