Women's tennis completes fall schedule at UH

HOUSTON - Callie Woerner and Federica Denti each reached the finals of their respective singles flights to highligh action for the Sam Houston State women's tennis team in the squad's final fall tournament of 2009, the University of Houston Fall Classic.
Denti defeated players from Lee College and Stephen F. Austin before falling in the finals of the No. 1 singles flight to Halana Harutyunyea from Akron 7-6 6-1.
Woerner knocked off opponents from Lee College and Tulane before dropping a 6-0 6-2 decision to Leanna Lee of Lee College in the finals at No. 5 singles.
The Bearkats' Italian duo of sophomore Giorgia Pozzan and Federica Denti defeated the top doubles teams from Akron and before falling to the No. 1 team from Tulane in the semi-finals.
Pozzan won in the consolation draw at No. 2 singles over Sophie Quist of SMU.
The Sam Houston State women will begin dual match play the final weekend in January
