Women's golf 8th at McNeese State

Led by Kirsten Spittler, who finished tied for 10th place in the individual standings, the Sam Houston State women's golf team placed eighth out of 17 teams in the Koasati Pines Collegiate Classic hosted by McNeese State University Saturday and Sunday.
The Bearkats fired a team score of 323-316-306--945.
Texas State-San Marcos won the team championship with a 924 total. The Bobcats' Sydney Liles was the individual medalist champion with a 73-75-74--222 total.
McNeese State, Lacy McKinley who placed 7th (76-77-75--228), was the tournament runner-up with a 926 team total. Texas-San Antonio and Central Arkansas tied for third at 929 followed by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (932) and South Alabama and Lamar at 936.
Other Sam Houston State scores and finishes included Wendy Joyner 19th (80-81-72--233), Amanda Carmona 36th (82-79-79--240), Ellie McKinley 44th (82-82-79--243) and Callie Rice 87th (93-87-92--272).
