Mark Wyatt signs with Marlins

Mark Wyatt, who earned All-Southland Conference third team honors as a catcher for Sam Houston State as a senior in 2009, has signed with the Florida Marlins.
Wyatt now reports to the Gulf Coast League Marlins minor league team.
The Stratford High School product from Houston who transferred to Sam Houston after two years at Angelina Junior College hit .327 in 2009 for the Bearkats. He led Sam Houston with 14 home runs, ranked second on the squad in RBIs with 55 and hit 16 doubles. Wyatt produced 21 multiple hit games and had 15 multiple RBI performances.
Wyatt's walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th inning of an 8-6 victory over UTSA put Sam Houston in the finals of the Southland Conference tournament. The Bearkats won the SLC tournament for the third year in a row to earn the league's NCAA Division I playoffs berth, a Southland first. Wyatt was selected to the All-Tournament team after the SLC post-season event.
As a junior in 2008, Wyatt hit .343 with 18 doubles, a triple, three home runs and 13 RBIs.
