HUNTSVILLE -- Jade Davis scored 18 points including five points in overtime as Texas A&M-Corpus Christi rallied from 12 points down to defeat Sam Houston State 76-69 in a Southland Conference women's basketball Saturday afternoon at Johnson Coliseum. 

Brittany Brooks led Sam Houston (5-13, SLC 2-4) with 24 points. The Bearkats built a 32-28 halftime lead and were up 47-35 after a Brooks' three-pointer with 15 minutes left in regulation.  

During the next 10 minutes, A&M-Corpus Christi (13-6, SLC 5-1) went on a 17-5 run to tie the contest 52-52 on a free throw by Adrienne Scott with 5:04 to play. After a pair of lead changes, TAMUCC went ahead 63-58 on a pair of free throws by Davis with 53 seconds left.

Five seconds later, Brooks was fouled on a three point attempt and made all three free throws to cut the margin to 63-61. Ray Alexander made a steal and dribbled in for a layup with 10 seconds remaining forced overtime.  

During the extra period, Sam Houston hit only one of its 11 shots while the Islanders had two field goals and went 9-of-10 from the line. The Islanders outscored the Kats 13-6 in the extra final minutes .

"The bottom line is we came down and didn't finish strong at the end," Sam Houston State head coach Brenda Nichols said. "We missed some easy ones. Those, you have to make in games like this. We didn't do our job. We're a better team than that. We just have to put the ball in the hole and we have to go up strong and that's something that we didn't do today."

Sam Houston now heads on the road for a pair of games, traveling to UTSA Wednesday and Central Arkansas on Saturday. The next home women's game will be Wednesday, Feb. 10 at Johnson Coliseum.
