
#14, Tennis rallies for win

A comeback win for the Sam Houston women's tennis team over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is No. 14 in the countdown of the top Bearkat sports stories of 2010.
With Sam Houston trailing 3-2, two freshmen came up big to win their singles matches in three sets and lift the Bearkat women's tennis team to a 4-3 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Nadia Dubyanskava defeated LeAnne Maschall 4-6 6-2 6-3 at number four singles to even the match at 3-3 and Sheridan Currie fought back to down Bianca Discordia 7-6 2-6 6-4 at number three for the decisive point.
"This was a big win for our young team and a real confidence builder for the freshmen," Sam Houston head coach Jim Giachino said. "The whole team showed so much heart today."
Junior Cally Woerner provided the other singles win for Sam Houston, defeating Doris Kuselj at number five 6-4 6-0.
Sam Houston took the doubles point as Giorgia Pozzan and Federica Denti paired to win the number one doubles and Woerner and Nadia Dubyanskaya won at number three.Players Mentioned
