The Kats won 4-2 and 9-8 Saturday and completed the sweep Sunday with a 5-0 shutout at TAMUCC's Chapman Field. The victory upped Sam Houston's record to 15-22 for the year a 7-11 in league play.

Sam Houston entered the game tied for ninth place in the Southland race. Only the top six finishers in the final regular season conference standings will earn a spot in the Southland Conference post-season tournament to be played at Texas State in San Marcos May 13-15.

With the sweep, the Kats are now just a game-and-a-half out of sixth place. A&M-Corpus Christi drops to 25-17 for the season and 7-11 in Southland action.

Morgan Mikulin picked up her fourth shutout of the season, spreading eight hits over seven hitting and striking out three Islanders.

Kim Damian got the Bearkats going with a two-run double in the top of the second. In the third inning, three walks and a field choice gave Sam Houston a 3-0 margin. SHSU added a run in both the fourth and fifth innings on RBI singles by Amy Brown and Shelbi Tucker, respectively.

Brown, Erin Burford and Damian all had multiple-hit games with each picking up two hits. The Bearkats totaled nine hits as a team.

Sam Houston's next home series will be with UT-Arlington Saturday and Sunday April 17-18.
