Baseball travels to Baylor Tuesday night

Baylor will attempt to end a three-game losing streak while also extending its 12-game winning streak in non-conference games. Sam Houston is out to end a four-game streak.
The Bears knocked off UT Arlington in both games of a home-and-home series on Tuesday and Wednesday, but Baylor was swept at Kansas State after scoring just two runs in all three games over the weekend.
Sam Houston State (15-22) lost all four games last week. The Bearkats were coming off a series win against McNeese State when they lost a one-run game to Rice on Tuesday, and then SHSU was swept at Lamar after being outscored 23-9 in three games.
Baylor and Sam Houston State have met 94 times, and the Bears hold a 56-38 advantage in theall-time series. Baylor is 32-14 in games played in Waco against the Bearkats, while the series is tied 24-24 in games played in Huntsville. The Bears last played SHSU on April 21, 2009, in game a the Bearkats won 9-8.
Tuesday's contest will be a warm-up for a critical series this weekend at Don Sanders Stadium when the Bearkats play host to Nicholls.
Both Sam Houston and the Colonels are tied for eighth place in the Southland Conference standings and only eight teams qualify for the post-season tournament in Corpus Christi in May. Winning the series is key for the Kats' hopes to return to the tournament where Sam Houston is three-time defending champion.
The three-game Southland series with Nicholls begins Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Don Sanders Stadium.
