Baseball hosts Houston Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday is 25 cent hot dog night at Don Sanders. Each customer is limited to four hot dogs per purchase.
The Cougars defeated Sam Houston 4-2 in the pair's first meeting this year in Houston. Joel Ansley went 2-for-4 at the plate, batting in two of the Cougars' runs. The Cougars built a 4-0 lead with one run in the bottom of the fourth inning and three more in the seventh.
Third baseman Jessie Plumlee led off the top of the eighth with a single to begin a Bearkat rally. Second baseman Braeden Riley walked and center fielder Greg Olson singled in Plumlee. Riley later scored to cut the margin to 4-2.
But the Cougars' bull pen shut down Sam Houston in the final inning and two thirds to hold on for the victory. Michael Goodnight (4-3) was the winner for UH spreading five hits over five innings and striking out eight Bearkats. Matt Creel picked up the save.
UH brings a 16-22 season record into Huntsville Tuesday. The Cougars are led at the plate by Caleb Ramsey (.375), Joel Ansley (.359) and Zak Presley (.353).
Sam Houston stands 16-25 for the season. Chris Andreas (.393), Braeden Riley (.358) and Ryan Mooney (.331) lead the Bearkats in hitting.
Following the Houston game, SHSU will play host to Stephen F. Austin in a three-game Southland Conference weekend series beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Don Sanders.
